MAKE UP ACADEMY LIPSTICK REVIEW - SHADES 1,13 & 7

Today I made a trip to Superdrug in the hope of purchasing some MUA lipsticks. I had heard very good things about these lipsticks and get this.. they're only a pound each so I just HAD to get my hands on them.

I decided to buy the two red shades (shades 1 and 13) and a lovely coral pink colour (shade 7). They look very pretty and the packaging is superb for £1.

Many people have mentioned having problems unscrewing the bottom though I haven't had this problem! Oh, that's another thing.

They also have un-screwable pots of lipgloss/lipliner at the bottom (pretty nifty eh?). I'm not quite sure what it's for if I'm honest. Some say it's for after you've eaten for a quick top up and others say its either a lipgloss or to be used as a lipliner! I personally hope it's a lip liner as it would stop the lipstick from bleeding.

I think the pots look so cute and pretty. This lipstick really doesn't look like it was only a pound. Below are some swatches to give you all an idea of what they look like when applied.

This shade is a lovely vibrant red. I can assure you that it goes on perfectly, it doesn't look too sheer. It comes out as a really vibrant red.

On this picture you can see that it has gone into the creases in my lips though in reality you can't notice. For a pound this lipstick is amazing! I am very fussy about red lipstick, I hate it when they look more pink than red and when they aren't bright enough.

This one however is a very vibrant 'marilyn monroe' red and doesn't have any pinkish hues. It's also very moisturizing, all of these lipsticks are. It isn't too shiny either, it's just right. And it isn't shimmery which is a definite plus! This shade would suit any skin colour.

Shade 7 is so pretty. It's a lovely pinky coral colour. It also applies very nicely and leaves your lips feeling nice and moisturized. Now this one is shimmery though if it wasn't it wouldn't look anywhere near as nice.

It's not an 'in your face' shimmer. It's perfect. This lipstick would be perfect throughout the summer and is one you could wear either day or night; it's very versatile.

I love this colour and I am glad I picked it up. I also think it would suit any skin tone from pale-dark. I have very fair skin and I think it accompanies it well.
This is my favourite shade of all. Shade 1 is an absolutely gorgeous dark reddish purple colour. This colour is very in right now as well so that's a bonus. I can't get enough of deep red lipstick, I have to admit that I wear red lipstick pretty much every day.

I 100% recommend this lipstick as with the others. Again, this lipstick is moisturizing and looks so pretty on. For a pound they are all must haves. I have heard that they last for quite a while as well but for a pound I'm not too bothered as I don't mind reapplying.

Overall they are three beautiful lipsticks which I highly recommend. They're moisturizing, pretty, cheap, easily applied and vibrant. They're amazing! I couldn't criticize them in any way shape or form.

MOSCHINO MONDAY

Finally I have had the chance to do a proper blog post! So sorry for the delay, sixth form has had me really busy. I am mega excited for my birthday, it's 18 days away and I shall finally (hopefully) have my hands on a Nikon 2100 camera.

Anyway, here's my outfit of the day. I wore a knitted skirt teamed with my favourite moschino belt that I got from a carboot sale for a mere £2. It was originally a bumbag however I just took the letters off and put them on a primark belt!

I thought the hoop earrings and tartan headband would look good with this mesh top. I wanted a kind of 'grungey' feel to the outfit. I really like this top though it's best to team it with a black bandeau as it is very see through. I simply adore tartan at the moment.

I wore my go to flatforms, they're so comfy in comparison to heels. They give me extra height and make my legs appear slimmer without that added pain factor. Win win in my opinion!

I teamed it all with a dark red lip. I love this colour for my lips at the moment, I feel it matches that grunge feel I was going for.

MEAL OUTFIT

Me and my friends all went for a nice meal and this is what I wore! I decided to wear my over the knee boots with a knitted skirt, a simple strappy top and my leather jacket! I couldn't forget my tartan headband either as I adore tartan at the moment! Once again I am sorry about the bad quality pictures, I have been mega busy with sixth form! I will be doing a proper post later ready for tomorrow.

THIGH HIGHS

My mum is so amazing at getting such bargains! She got me these thigh highs from a charity shop! As for the moschino belt I luckily found that for £2 from a car boot! I love bargains, I can't express enough how amazing they are.
I thought they looked quite pretty teamed with a nice dress and tights. I wanted to steer clear of looking like a 'stripper' so I tried to dress them down as much as possible. I personally love thigh highs though I know a lot of people have mixed opinions about this style of boot. I think they're lovely and mega flattering. I didn't think I would get away with a flat pair being a rather petite 5'5 though they actually lengthen my leg and don't make me look really short and stubby!
I teamed it with my go to bag which of course is my 'vivienne westwood' bag which I got from eBay for £6 and my new bowler hat which I am glad to have finally got!

** Sorry about the rubbish quality images, I have been very bust with sixth form at the moment so haven't had time to take proper images! I will have a new camera for my birthday at the beginning of October though which I really can't wait to get! I'll have a tripod then which means much more regular posting aswell!

STRIPES AND SUSPENDERS

Primarily, let me apologise for the creases in my dress. This dress creases an incredible amount with just about every movement I make. Don't get me wrong, I love this dress though the creases are so annoying!

The tights are Primark. I bought them yesterday and I really like them. They will be perfect for the colder months as they aren't actual suspender socks they are tights! Also the fact that they are tights means that I'm not constantly having to pull them up!

I wore my floral crown with this as its so quirky. At least one person says they love it at some point throughout my day which makes me happy! Its pretty and girly and tops off just about any outfit. I also think that it's not too much. There are some floral crowns that are far too big and 'in your face' yet this one is just right.

I wore small chunky heels with this as they lengthen my leg and give me a confidence boost all of which are great. They don't hurt either which is good as they are just like flatforms meaning a tactical bit of height without that added 'ouch'.

TARTANTASTIC

I am obsessed with tartan at the moment. I didn't think I would like it but as soon as I bought a tartan skirt and headband I was hooked. I wear them all of the time now. Oh and apologies for the bad camera, I had to use my boyfriends phone otherwise no post would have been able to be put up!

I helped my mum yet again on the beach with her bouncy castle though this time it was more my boyfriend as he was the one elected to help her. I had sixth form but finished early (yay!) so it meant I could go and join them on the beach.

The strangest yet kind of nicest thing happened today. A lady came up to me asking to take pictures of me. She said she thought I was very pretty, how cute though I felt so awkward posing for her pictures!

I wore my leather jacket (it looked cold but it got really warm, far too warm for a leather jacket) with my tartan skirt and tartan headband. When I bough the skirt and the headband I originally didn't plan for them to be worn together though I discovered that they actually look really pretty together.

I also wore my new bag that I got off eBay for £6. Bargain ey? I'm hooked. I wear it day in day out now. It was from China so I highly doubt that it is actually a real Vivienne Westwood bag, nevertheless for £6 I still adore it!

END OF SUMMER WISH LIST

1. Topshop Lipstick in 'Trigger' - Recently I ran out of red lipstick so I desperately need a new one as I wear red lipstick near enough every day! I adore it. I have heard good things about topshops lipstick range so I would definitely like to try this out. The dark red colour is gorgeous and looks as though it would look so pretty and classy on.

2. Oversized baseball t-shirt dress - I really wanted to be able to pull off thigh high boots as I absolutely love them however I thought I would need something loose and not too showy to go with them and this t-shirt dress seemed absolutely perfect. This was also stocked in Topshop for no doubt triple the price.

3. Plain black beanie - Beanies can really complete a look. They can grunge up your look in an instant and I thought the beanie, the t-shirt dress and the thigh high boots would be an amazing combination. For that price you simply cannot complain.

4. Mom jeans - These are exactly like the Topshop 'mom jeans' but for a lower price. I really love these jeans at the moment though I am unsure as to whether I could pull them off. They might make me look huge due to how baggy they are.

5. Thigh high suede boots - These boots are to die for. I really love thigh high boots though I tried to steer away from leather look ones or the shiny ones as they look far too stripper-esque. I am going to be so scared wearing these for the first time! I also chose for them to have a slight wedge as I don't want them to make me look short and stubby but when teamed with a slight heel they make your legs look amazing (I tried some).

6. Strappy bag - This bag is so grunge-esque. I really love it and how unusual it is. I would love for it to be a part of my wardrobe.

7. Celine inspired trapeze bag - What really drew me to this bag is how alike it is to the Celine designer bags. It's a really good copy. It just isn't branded Celine which I can definitely live with.

8. Sleek contour kit in fair - This kit looks amazing for contouring your face. I would really benefit from a kit like this as I have quite a round face which could do with looking more 'oval' in shape and slimmer. This kit would help me to achieve that.

9. Aztec mini dress - This dress has been a sell out in missguided and I have had my eyes on it for ages. Finally it's on eBay and in shops near where I live so I will definitely have to purchase it (especially at that price).
